Township of River Vale

Second quarter 2026 property taxes are due May 1. The last day to pay without penalty is Monday, May 11, 2026.

*Please note, cash payments are no longer accepted for property taxes.*

It is recommended that you utilize the following methods to make your payment:

1. Drop Off / Mail in Checks:
You can mail in or drop off your check using the drop box mailbox at the front door of Town Hall, which is accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Please include your tax stub with your check in a sealed envelope.

Checks should be payable to the “Township of River Vale”. Please DO NOT leave any cash in the tax payment drop box. If mailing your payment and you would like a receipt, please include your entire tax bill with a self-addressed, stamped envelope.

Post-Dated Checks: By statute, our office is required to deposit payments as soon as they are received and we cannot accept “post-dated” checks, therefore, please date your check the day you write it out, just as you would if you were paying in person.

2. Online Bill Pay from your bank:
Please be aware payments that you initiate with your own bank through online bill pay should be scheduled in advance of any due date to allow a sufficient number of mailing days for the Township to receive, process and apply the payment to your account. Bank payments made from online bill pay are sent through the mail. The Township is not responsible for late payments due to delays in mail service or bank processing. Please include your Block and Lot, Last name and/or property address in order for us to apply the payment to the correct account.

3. Electronic Check or Credit Card: Directly from the Township’s website https://wipp.edmundsassoc.com/Wipp/?wippid=0253

Fees are as follows:
ACH or e-check: $1.50 per transaction
Debit or Credit cards: 2.65% of the payment

4. Direct Debit - ACH/Direct Withdrawal
The Tax Collector’s Office now offers an Automated Clearing House (ACH) bank draft program (direct withdrawal) to our taxpayers. This service assures your payment will be received in a timely manner as well as providing a safe and secure way to pay your taxes without the worry of mail delivery or coming to pay in person. There is NO recycling pick up on Wednesday, April 29 this week.

The next recycling pick up (glass, aluminum, plastic and tin only) will be on Wednesday, May 6, 2026. The River Vale Recycling Center at 320 Rivervale Road will be open for drop off on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 am - 3:00 pm.

Saturday, May 9 is the 9th Annual River Vale Free Shredding & Recycling Day where River Vale and Montvale residents can drop off recyclables as well.

Please do not place recyclables in plastic bags and do not drop off garbage.

Garden Debris Pickup Begins Tuesday, March 24

This includes debris and branches less than 4 feet long and less than 2 inches in diameter. Branches must be put into containers or tied together or they will NOT be picked up.

Chipping of Large Branches Starts Monday, March 30

Branches must be 4 feet or longer and over 2 inches in diameter to be chipped. Any branches under 4 feet must be put in containers or tied for garden debris collection on Tuesday.

Registration is now OPEN for River Vale Spring Pre-K T-Ball!

Children who reside in River Vale and are entering Kindergarten in the Fall of 2026 are eligible to take part in our 2026 T-Ball program.

The six-week clinic will be held on Saturdays from 1pm - 2pm starting May 9th
Cost is $70 per child and includes a t-shirt and hat. Space is limited! Additional information available on our website.

COACHES needed! Please consider enriching your child's experience and volunteering to coach via Community Pass when you register your child. Our website has the requirements to coach youth sports in River Vale.

2025 Form PAS-1 applications for property tax relief for seniors and certain disability recipients are now available at River Vale Town Hall, 406 Rivervale Road.

The deadline to apply is November 2, 2026.
