Please join us for a commemorative Memorial Day Ceremony on SATURDAY May 23rd, 2026 at 10:30am in Veteran’s Memorial Park, 406 Rivervale Rd. (In between Town Hall and the Library).
Memorial Day is a federal holiday to honor the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. All around our country, ceremonies are held this weekend and people visit cemeteries to decorate graves with American flags and flowers.
River Vale respectfully plans this event each year to honor and reflect upon the sacrifices made by military men and women.
Our short, but sweet and meaningful ceremony is a great way to come together as a community before you start attending your other events and celebrations for the weekend. It is also an opportunity to teach younger members of our community how we honor this important holiday.
Of special note, the 4th Battalion NJ Volunteers have attended River Vale’s ceremony each year for decades and always arrive in revolutionary war era attire, literally bringing history to life! It’s something everyone in our town should see at least once!
LOUD NOISE WARNING: our event always includes a customary firing of volleys via the muskets of the 4th Battalion NJ Volunteers.
After the ceremony, we’ll have coffee and donuts available, as well as pinwheels for the kids (while supplies last). Anyone attending and wearing Red, White & Blue can also stop by the 7-Eleven in River Vale for a free Slurpee on Saturday.

Please join the River Vale Police Department on Thursday, May 21 for a Child Safety Seat Event. No appointment necessary! Certified car seat technicians can check and install your car seat properly at the River Vale South Firehouse at 334 Rivervale Road from 10am to 1pm on May 21.

The NJ Motor Vehicle "Agency on Wheels" will be at River Vale Town Hall, 406 Rivervale Road, on Tuesday, June 16 from 9:00am to 2:15pm.

There have been increased instances of illegal dumping at the River Vale Recycling Center (320 Rivervale Road) and our Department asks that you please follow the policies that are already in place.
Please be mindful that our recycling center does NOT accept plastic bags in any capacity.
We only accept the following types of plastic: Categories 1, 2, 5.
All cardboard MUST be flattened before being put into the container at the recycling center.
There is no after hours drop off of electronics nor metal on the bench in front of the facility. Metal and electronics can be brought to the facility during operating hours: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7am to 3pm.

Adherence to these rules is mandatory and we thank you for your cooperation.
