The River Vale Police Department is hosting a Child Safety Seat Event this Friday, May 23 from 10am to 1pm at the R.V.P.D. Headquarters, 334 Rivervale Road. Stop by to have our officers, who are nationally certified technicians, inspect and assist with proper installation of your child safety seats!

All are invited to attend the Township of River Vale's commemorative Memorial Day Ceremony on SATURDAY, May 24th, 2025 at 10:30am in Veteran’s Memorial Park, 406 Rivervale Rd. (between Town Hall and the Library). As Memorial Day is a federal holiday to honor the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military, nationwide ceremonies are held along with visits to cemeteries to decorate graves with American flags and flowers. River Vale respectfully plans this event each year to honor and reflect upon the sacrifices made by military men and women. This year it is our privilege to welcome Captain David Fillis, Commanding Officer, US Navy, as our keynote speaker. Our short, but sweet and meaningful ceremony is a great way to come together as a community. It is also an opportunity to teach younger members of our community how we honor this important holiday. Of special note, the 4th Battalion NJ Volunteers have taken part in River Vale’s Ceremony each year for decades and always arrive in Revolutionary War era attire, literally bringing history to life! It’s something everyone in our town should see at least once! Loud Noise Warning: our event always includes a customary firing of volleys via the muskets of the 4th Battalion NJ Volunteers. After the ceremony, we’ll have coffee and donuts available, as well as pinwheels for the kids (while supplies last). Got Stuff?? The 2025 River Vale Town Wide Tag Sale (Formerly River Vale Town Wide Garage Sale) will be held on Saturday, June 7th AND Sunday, June 8th, as weather allows. River Vale residents can host their own sale at their home and earn cash for old treasures that have been taking up space for too long! Remember one person’s junk is another’s treasure! The fee for this year is $25 regardless of if you participate one day or two and can be paid via cash (exact change only) or check made payable to “Township of River Vale.” All money collected will be used for marketing & balloons with ALL additional proceeds donated to the Helping Hand Food Pantry. As the money is used for marketing and donation only, no refunds will be issued. Both dates we ask that sales stay open from 10:00 am – 3:30 pm. Last year we had over 75 of our neighbors participate, so we want to make sure everyone gets a chance to make it to as many sales as they can in a short time period. If a date is cancelled for weather, the other date is considered your “Rain date.” Also, new this year, you may fill out your registration form online. Registering online will really help us streamline the process and help ensure we get all of your address and sales details captured correctly on our published sales listings.
