Township of River Vale

First quarter 2026 property taxes are due February 1. The last day to pay without penalty is Tuesday, February 10, 2026.

*Please note, cash payments are no longer accepted for property taxes.*

It is recommended that you utilize the following methods to make your payment:

1. Drop Off / Mail in Checks:
You can mail in or drop off your check using the drop box mailbox at the front door of Town Hall, which is accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Please include your tax stub with your check in a sealed envelope.

Checks should be payable to the “Township of River Vale”. Please DO NOT leave any cash in the tax payment drop box. If mailing your payment and you would like a receipt, please include your entire tax bill with a self-addressed, stamped envelope.

Post-Dated Checks: By statute, our office is required to deposit payments as soon as they are received and we cannot accept “post-dated” checks, therefore, please date your check the day you write it out, just as you would if you were paying in person.

2. Online Bill Pay from your bank:
Please be aware payments that you initiate with your own bank through online bill pay should be scheduled in advance of any due date to allow a sufficient number of mailing days for the Township to receive, process and apply the payment to your account. Bank payments made from online bill pay are sent through the mail. The Township is not responsible for late payments due to delays in mail service or bank processing. Please include your Block and Lot, Last name and/or property address in order for us to apply the payment to the correct account.

3. Electronic Check or Credit Card: Directly from the Township’s website https://wipp.edmundsassoc.com/Wipp/?wippid=0253

Fees are as follows:
ACH or e-check: $1.50 per transaction
Debit or Credit cards: 2.65% of the payment

4. Direct Debit - ACH/Direct Withdrawal
The Tax Collector’s Office now offers an Automated Clearing House (ACH) bank draft program (direct withdrawal) to our taxpayers. This service assures your payment will be received in a timely manner as well as providing a safe and secure way to pay your taxes without the worry of mail delivery or coming to pay in person. The DPW is finishing 2025 leaf collection now.

Any leaves currently on the street will be collected.
Any new piles put out will not be collected.

If you still have leaves in your yard, please place them in containers on your property until they can be collected with garden debris in the Spring.

Registration is now open for the River Vale 2026 Junior Police Academy! Current River Vale 8th grade students are eligible to attend. Monday evening sessions start in January. Deadline to register is December 24. Don't miss this amazing experience!

The Department of Public Works is completing the last scheduled leaf pickup for Zone 3 and will be moving through River Vale for the last time.

They will be starting in Zone 1 and will be subsequently moving through Zone 2 before finishing the season in Zone 3.

Please bring leaves to the curb immediately.
