The Township of River Vale has lightning detectors placed at various locations in town. They are designed to detect lightning strikes within ten miles of each location. Like most technology, and with the unpredictability of weather, they are not always 100% accurate. If you hear thunder, or see lightning, please get indoors as quickly as possible.
You can monitor the current status of our lightning detectors from our website. Please see the Lightning Detection webpage for more details. https://www.rivervalenj.org/o/trv/page/lightning-detection Be safe!

River Vale Military Tribute Banners are up! Many thanks to the Department of Public Works for hanging them along Westwood Avenue, as well as other locations in town, in time for Memorial Day. It's not too late to have a banner for the special River Vale veteran(s) in your life proudly displayed as well! https://www.rivervalenj.org/o/trv/page/military-tribute-banner-program
Thank you all for your service. 🇺🇸

Snow Removal Reminders
Our streets must be cleared from curb to curb. Sometimes this takes many passes with our plows and, to the dismay of some residents, sometimes snow that they cleared from their driveway gets pushed back into it.
In order to avoid clearing your driveway twice, pile snow on the left side with you facing your house, or your driveway (see illustration above). This can minimize the amount of snow pushed back into your driveway. Please do not shovel snow onto the street. More info here: https://rivervalenj.org/363/Snow-Removal
