Known as the "Garden Spot" of the Pascack Valley, River Vale is a quiet community with tree-lined streets, excellent schools and wonderful recreation facilities. River Vale hosts only two traffic lights but also three golf courses. In addition, its convenience to New York City, which is less than 20 miles to the southeast, adds to the attraction of living here.
"Four Corners" is the Township's bustling business and commerical area. River Vale offers shops, restaurants, services and medical facilities. There is an abundance of community spirit here, which is apparent during the Township sponsored parades, community day and other events.
River Vale is also rich in history, dating to the Revolutionary War. In 1967, the remains of several American Revolutionary War soldiers dating from 1778 were discovered at the site of what is called "Baylor's Massacre." Please see our Historical Committee webpage for much more information on Baylor's Massacre and other points of historical significance in River Vale.
