Counselor Information

We are looking for responsible young people who enjoy working with and leading campers to a fun and safe summer experience!

Counselors must be River Vale residents, have graduated 8th grade and be at least 14 years old by the time camp starts.

Counselors will have the opportunity to work with campers from 1st grade through 7th grade in varied activities. Responsibilities include leading the campers in activities in the gym, on the field, on the playground, in the art rooms and game rooms.

On Tuesday and Thursday the camp meets at Stonybrook Swim Club. Counselors help lead their campers to fun in the pool, on the playground, on the fields and on the courts of Stonybrook.

Counselors are expected to provide their own transportation, including for off-site activities.

Camp Information

Camp Have Some Fun is a half day summer camp program sponsored by River Vale Recreation.

Residents of both River Vale and Hillsdale are eligible this year.

The camp is for children entering 1st grade in September 2008 through children entering 7th grade in September 2008. The camp this summer will be at Holdrum School.

The hours of the camp are 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The camp is scheduled to begin on Monday June 30th and run for 5 weeks, ending on Friday August 1st. The camp employs counselors between the ages of 14 to 18 who lead the campers in organized activities.

Camp Have Some Fun meets at Holdrum School on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The campers follow an organized schedule at the school. All campers assemble in the new gym for attendance and important information of the day. Each group then heads off for fun at the game rooms, the art rooms, the gyms, the playground and the fields. A camp calendar will be available later in the Spring with daily contests, themed days and others exciting planned events, such as a talent show.

The camp meets at Stonybrook Swim Club on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The campers enjoy the morning at the pool, swimming and playing games. Each camper must pass a swim test under the supervision of the Stonybrook Swim Club staff in order to swim in the main pool. The majority of our young campers stay in the 3-foot-deep intermediate pool. The 1st and 2nd grade counselors stay with the campers at the swim club. The counselors for 3rd through 7th grade are placed around the pools, field area, playground and snack bar for extra supervision.

Special off-site activities are also planned. There are proposed trips to Montvale Lanes, Space Odyssey in Englewood, Pascack Movie Theater and much more. These activities are on a Monday, Wednesday or Friday in place of being at the school. Parents must provide transportation for campers as there are no buses. Each camper must wear their CAMP HAVE SOME FUN T-shirt to the special activities.

Camper Registration

Options for campers*:

1. Monday through Friday ($225)
This option includes 3 days a week at the school and 2 days a week at Stonybrook Swim Club. Special activities are also included for this fee.

2. Monday, Wednesday, Friday ($200)
This option includes 3 days a week at the school but not the Swim Club. Special activities are also included for this fee.

3. Tuesday-Thursday ($175)
This option is just for the 2 days a week at Stonybrook Swim Club only.

*Please note that there was a pricing error on the flyer that was recently distributed in the schools. The prices on this website and on the attached registration form reflect the correct 2008 prices. Sorry for any misunderstanding!

Please bring or mail your registration form and check (made payable to the Township of River Vale) to Joanne Foy at Town Hall, 406 Rivervale Rd. Registration deadline is June 1st. After that date a $25 late fee will apply.
