River Vale Program

Sgt. Charles Martel

P.O. Valeri Speranza

P.O. Phil Ratchford

The River Vale D.A.R.E. program is a cooperative effort between the police department, the schools and the parents of our students.  The program begins at the Roberge and Woodside Schools with visitations in Kindergarten and the 1st and 3rd grade.  The core curriculum is taught in the 5th grade.

The 5th grade core curriculum consists of weekly visits for approximately 45 minutes each.  This curriculum  is targeted to the 5th grade level because studies have shown that this is the age where social groups and identities begin to form and drug experimentation can occur.

The program continues in the Holdrum Middle School at the 7th grade level.  The middle school curriculum expands on the concepts taught at the 5th grade level.

In addition to classroom instruction, the D.A.R.E. Unit sponsors other positive activities which reinforce the D.A.R.E. message.

The River Vale D.A.R.E. Program has been a great success, fostering friendships and memories that have lasted throughout the years.

"Project KidCard" is Here!!!

The River Vale P.T.A. and Residents for a Better River Vale recently donated the "KidCard" Child Identification System to the police department.  This system replaces that old ink fingerprints and polaroid photos that where taken during the annual KidCare event.  This system generates a credit card sized card which has your child's information, along with a photo and fingerprint.  This card can be kept with the parent at all times making it easily accessible in the event of an emergency (ie. lost child, etc.). Click on the pictures below to see samples of the card.

More information to follow on the program --- keep checking back for details!

I f you have any questions regarding "Project KidCard," please e-mail Sgt. William Affrunti or call 201-664-2346 extension 1143.
