Happy 100th Birthday to Herman Millman!



WHEREAS, on April 6, 1917 Herman Millman was born to Eugene and Ana Millman in Cleveland, Ohio; and

WHEREAS, on May 20, 1951 Herman married Elaine Kramer and they shared in 62 years of marriage. Together they had three sons David, Kenneth and Richard and have six grandchildren;  and

WHEREAS, Herman has resided in River Vale since May of 1957; and

WHEREAS, Herman served in the US army during WWII with an anti-aircraft unit. On many occasions he has been invited to be a guest speaker in classrooms throughout Bergen County to recount his war stories . Herman also spent 22 years with the Civil Air Patrol and worked as a journalist with the Cleveland  Press;   and

WHEREAS, both Herman and Elaine were active and devout  members  of  the  Bergen County  Players;  and

WHEREAS, for many years Herman volunteered with Meals on Wheels delivering food to those in need.  Herman also worked as an  ESL instructor at the River Vale    Library; and

WHEREAS, Herman has lived during the most eventful century of this world's history and is respected and admired by all for his many contributions to both his family and the community.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and the River Vale Town Council are inspired by Herman's long life and offer their sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Township of River Vale congratulates Herman Millman  on  the  occasion  of his 100th Birthday.
