Helpful Snow Removal Tips from the DPW

plow

Our streets must be cleared from curb to curb. Sometimes this takes many passes with the plows and, to the dismay of some residents, sometimes snow cleared from a driveway gets pushed back into it.

In order to avoid clearing your driveway twice, pile snow on the left side of your driveway (with you facing your house).  Click link below for illustration. This can minimize the amount of snow pushed back into your driveway. Please do not shovel snow onto the street.

In addition, please park all vehicles in your driveway during a snowstorm. This will save time shoveling and it will keep the road clear for plows and emergency vehicles to maneuver. The front of your residence will also be clear for later parking.  Thank you and stay safe!
